Bentley LumenRT Help

Terrain & Ocean

Used to create and editing terrains, ocean and water bodies.

You can access this dialog from the following:Menu Bar > Terrain & Ocean

SettingDescription
3SM This will load in a scalable reality mesh using the Bentley 3SM format. The 3SM mesh is a fast streaming format with automatically defined levels of detail based on the position of the camera. LumenRT supports the Scalable Mesh (.3sm) files. Scalable mesh files are suitable for display, analysis and editing of large 3D meshes in CONNECT generation of Bentley design applications. You can also texture scalable meshes with a Bing Map. The Geographic Coordinate System (GCS) information is embedded in the file itself.
Add Water Body This adds a smaller body of water like a lake. This opens a water material browser to select the type of water to be added. A plane is also created for placement in the scene.
  • Lock transform - This locks the location of the water body in place so it can't be accidentally moved.
  • Water tint - Displays the color of the water. Click on the color box to change.
  • Agitation - Use the slider to increase or decrease the amount of water agitation.
  • Speed - Use the slider to control the speed of water movement.
  • Scale - Use the slider to scale the water material.
Ocean Settings This displays the Ocean Settings dialog. Click the activate button to create an ocean plane. The control turns the waves on and off. An arrow displays to raise or lower the sea level.
  • General:
    • Altitude - Sets the water height. You can also drag the ocean move gizmo to set the water height.
  • Waves:
    • Direction - Sets the wave direction.
    • Speed - Sets the wave rolling speed.
  • Tint:
    • Color - Sets the primary water color.
    • Depth - Sets the depth of the color.
  • Reflection:
    • IOR -
    • Blur -
